Senior Payroll Advisor – Permanent OR 18-Month Fixed-Term Contract

An established professional services firm is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Advisor to manage a portfolio of complex client payrolls, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant service delivery.

The role covers UK and international payrolls, complex pension arrangements, expatriate payroll, benefits and share schemes, with opportunities to support process improvements and mentor junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage complex client payrolls across multiple frequencies and jurisdictions.
• Oversee HMRC submissions, statutory filings, year-end processes and pension auto-enrolment.
• Provide technical payroll advice and resolve complex queries.
• Support client onboarding, payroll implementations and system enhancements.
• Build strong client relationships and support billing and wider commercial opportunities.
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Strong payroll bureau or client-facing payroll experience.
• CIPP qualified or qualified by experience.
• Advanced payroll systems knowledge, ideally IRIS Payroll Professional.
• Up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation, pensions and compliance, with experience of complex or international payrolls.
• Excellent client communication, attention to detail, IT and Excel skills.
