You will own the architecture of test fixtures and interface hardware, contribute directly to reliable manufacturing test processes, and collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain PCBA test fixtures, including bed-of-nails systems and interface hardware to support production and engineering testing.
  • Own test fixture architecture, including schematics, wiring, component selection, bills of materials (BOMs), and all related documentation.
  • Design and modify interface boards using Altium Designer to support automated test systems and evolving product requirements.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis on PCBAs, fixtures, and test equipment, and drive corrective actions to improve reliability and yield.
  • Lead the design, development, and support of production and engineering test systems for manufacturing operations and NPI programs.
  • Support testing and troubleshooting of power electronics, including inverter systems and component-level power electronics.
  • Develop, commission, and validate new test stands while ensuring safety, robustness, and compliance with documentation standards.
  • Conduct functional and verification testing using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), power analyzers, and other electrical instrumentation.
  • Provide hands-on lab support for board bring-up, troubleshooting, and manufacturing test activities.
  • Troubleshoot complex board-level and system-level electrical issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Mentor technicians and junior engineers on test methods, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices for manufacturing test.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle to ensure test coverage and product reliability.
  • Contribute to product lifecycle management through robust test strategies, thorough documentation, and continuous improvement of test processes.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, test engineering, or manufacturing test environments.
  • Strong experience designing PCBA test fixtures and manufacturing test systems.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and board design.
  • Hands-on experience with Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) test fixtures and conducting failure analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, power electronics fundamentals, and board-level testing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex board-level and system-level electrical issues in a manufacturing or lab environment.
  • Experience with test stands and automated test systems used in production and engineering settings.
  • Strong documentation skills for schematics, wiring, BOMs, procedures, and test reports.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration across engineering, quality, and operations teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with NI hardware, TestStand, and LabVIEW is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management and its impact on test strategy and documentation.
  • Experience working in manufacturing test environments with advanced test equipment.
  • Ability to mentor and guide technicians and junior engineers in test methods and troubleshooting.
  • Comfort working on power electronics systems, including inverters and component-level power electronics.
  • Strong analytical mindset for root cause failure analysis and continuous improvement of test processes.

Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing and lab environment, working daily with advanced test equipment and electrical instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and power analyzers.
