At RWJBarnabas Health, our Senior Primary Therapist becomes part of a purpose-driven environment where compassion, clinical excellence, and patient-centered care create meaningful opportunities to support children, adolescents, and families on their mental health journey. This Licensed Clinician role offers opportunities for professional growth, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a trauma-informed culture committed to safety, healing, and continuous improvement. As a Licensed Clinician, you will play an essential role in delivering evidence-based behavioral health services, developing individualized treatment plans, and partnering with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to promoting resilience, recovery, and emotional well-being. Joining RWJBarnabas Health means joining a community where every Licensed Clinician is encouraged to grow, contribute, and make a lasting impact.

A typical day for a Licensed Clinician may include:

  • Providing individual, group, and family psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and their families in an outpatient and partial hospitalization setting
  • Conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments, gathering patient history, evaluating current functioning, and identifying treatment needs through interviews with patients, families, and significant others
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring, and documenting individualized interdisciplinary treatment plans that support patient goals and clinical progress
  • Delivering crisis intervention, case management, outreach services, and mental health consultation to promote patient safety, stabilization, and continuity of care
  • Collaborating closely with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members to provide coordinated, trauma-informed care
  • Maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation, including treatment plans, progress notes, discharge documentation, and medical record completion
  • Participating in weekly clinical supervision, multidisciplinary case conferences, and collaborative treatment planning discussions to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Supporting the education and development of future behavioral health professionals by participating in training opportunities and providing clinical oversight to interns when appropriate
  • Pursuing ongoing professional development through continuing education, evidence-based training, and organizational resources while contributing to customer satisfaction and quality improvement initiatives

This role might be for you if:

  • Compassion and empathy guide your approach to caring for children, adolescents, and families experiencing behavioral health challenges
  • You are committed to providing trauma-informed, patient-centered care that promotes healing, resilience, and recovery
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills enable you to develop effective treatment plans and respond confidently to changing patient needs
  • You communicate effectively and build trusting therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Collaboration is central to your practice, and you enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team
  • You value professional growth, clinical supervision, and lifelong learning as essential components of your career
  • You maintain professionalism, organization, and attention to detail while balancing documentation, patient care, and regulatory requirements

To be considered for this Licensed Clinician opportunity, you are passionate about providing high-quality behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and families in a supportive, trauma-informed environment. You have a Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, Psychology, or a related field, or a PhD/PsyD in Psychology. A current New Jersey LPC or LCSW license is required, along with a valid driver's license. Previous experience providing behavioral health services in an outpatient, partial hospitalization, or related clinical setting is preferred. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong assessment, therapeutic, crisis intervention, and documentation skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary care team while maintaining a commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate patient care. This is a per diem position requiring a commitment of 2 days per week, Monday through Friday, with a schedule of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on one day and 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on the other.
