PDI Technician - Early Shift

About the role:

Big Motoring World is a fast growing car supermarket and we are looking for a motivated and reliable PDI Technician to join our team at our Preparation Centre in Peterborough.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced technicians in a busy and fast-paced environment where quality and efficiency are key. You will play an important role in ensuring our vehicles are thoroughly inspected, checked and prepared to meet our quality and safety standards, which are checked by the RAC before they reach our customers. You will be responsible for identifying any faults or issues, ensuring vehicles are carried out with precision, care and attention to detail. You will be supported by an experienced team with opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career.

This is a non-customer facing role, allowing you to focus on vehicle inspections, preparation and delivering high standards of workmanship behind the scenes.

Shift pattern - Monday - Friday 06:00 - 14:30, no weekend work required

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out thorough pre-delivery inspections on a wide range of vehicle makes and models, ensuring vehicles meet required safety, quality and preparation standards.
• Identify, assess and report mechanical faults, defects and any issues requiring further investigation or repair.
• Complete basic mechanical repairs, including brake lining replacements and routine servicing, in line with manufacturer guidelines and company procedures.
• Conduct detailed mechanical inspections to identify wear, damage or faults that may affect vehicle safety, performance or reliability.
• Ensure all identified defects are accurately recorded and rectified before vehicles progress through the preparation process.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, ensuring all inspections and repairs are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety requirements, workshop procedures and relevant vehicle safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment, ensuring tools and equipment are used and stored appropriately.
• Work collaboratively with the wider workshop and preparation team to ensure vehicles are processed within agreed timescales.

Person Specification:

• Level 2 or level 3 qualification
• Prior experience of working to output targets
• Prior experience working as a PDI Technician or within a vehicle preparation environment is desirable
• VOSA approved MOT tester also an advantage but not essential
• Own your own set of Tools
• Hold a Full UK Driving Licence - Any job offer that requires driving company vehicles is subject to a DVLA check, and applicants with six or more penalty points or a previous disqualification may not meet our insurance requirements and therefore may not be eligible for employment.
