What they need

About the role:

Big Motoring World is a fast growing car supermarket and we are looking for a motivated and reliable PDR Technician to join our team at our Preparation Centre in Peterborough.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced technicians in a busy and fast-paced environment where quality and efficiency are key. You will play an important role in ensuring our vehicles are thoroughly inspected, checked and prepared to meet our quality and safety standards, which are checked by the RAC before they reach our customers. You will be responsible for identifying any dinks, dents, imperfections and performing paintless dent repairs on all vehicles. You will be supported by an experienced team with opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career.

This is a non-customer facing role, allowing you to focus on vehicle inspections, preparation and delivering high standards of workmanship behind the scenes.

You will also have the opportunity to benefit from our bonus scheme, rewarding performance and providing the potential to increase you earnings alongside your basic salary.

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday 06:00 - 14:30, no weekend work required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess vehicle bodywork to determine the suitability of paintless dent repair and identify any damage requiring alternative repair methods.
  • Prioritise repair tasks in line with vehicle preparation schedules, stock requirements, and sales deadlines.
  • Work efficiently to meet daily productivity targets while maintaining high standards of workmanship and repair quality.
  • Conduct final quality inspections to ensure repaired panels meet company standards and vehicles are ready for the next stage of preparation.
  • Use specialised PDR tools and techniques to access and repair damaged panels while protecting vehicle paintwork, trim, glass, and interior components.
  • Coordinate with workshop technicians, bodyshop staff, and vehicle preparation teams to minimise delays and support a smooth vehicle turnaround.
  • Handle vehicles and repair equipment responsibly, ensuring all work is completed with care and attention to detail.
  • Report any repair issues, inaccessible damage, or work requiring specialist attention to the relevant supervisor.

Person specification:

  • Experience working on steel and aluminium vehicle body panels.
  • Prior experience of working to output targets
  • Prior experience working as a PDR Technician or within a vehicle preparation environment is desirable
  • Systematic and organised; pays attention to the finer details
  • Your own set of PDR Tools and Tools box
  • Hold a Full UK Driving Licence - Any job offer that requires driving company vehicles is subject to a DVLA check, and applicants with six or more penalty points or a previous disqualification may not meet our insurance requirements and therefore may not be eligible for employment.
