You will work under the supervision and direction of a licensed physical therapist (PT), implementing individualized treatment plans and supporting families as they help their children build strength, mobility, coordination, and functional skills in their everyday routines.

At Verbal Tree, you will be part of a supportive, collaborative team that values communication, professional growth, family-centered care, and each child's unique developmental journey.

Responsibilities

  • Provide home-based physical therapy services to infants and toddlers, ages birth to 3, throughout the assigned service area ( San Fernando Valley).
  • Implement individualized treatment plans and IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) goals under the supervision and direction of a licensed PT.
  • Support the development of gross motor skills, including head and trunk control, rolling, sitting, crawling, transitions, standing, walking, balance, and coordination, as appropriate for each child.
  • Incorporate therapy into play, daily routines, and natural environments to promote meaningful developmental progress.
  • Provide parent coaching and demonstrate strategies that caregivers can use during everyday activities to support their child's motor development.
  • Monitor children's progress and communicate observations, concerns, and updates to the supervising PT and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Complete session notes and other required documentation accurately and within established timelines.
  • Collaborate with families and other early intervention providers to support progress toward developmental goals.
  • Maintain professional, positive, and timely communication with families, supervisors, and the Verbal Tree team.
  • Manage a flexible schedule and travel between families' homes within the assigned service area.

Qualifications

  • Current California Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in good standing.
  • Pediatric experience preferred; experience with infants, toddlers, or early intervention is a plus.
  • Genuine interest in early childhood development and helping children build foundational motor skills.
  • Comfortable providing therapy in families' homes and adapting to different home environments.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, organized, and proactive, with a positive, go-getter attitude.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trusting relationships with caregivers.
  • Flexible and responsive to the needs of families and the team.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while following the supervising PT's direction and maintaining regular communication.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to assigned home visits.
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to meet deadlines.

What We Offer

  • A warm, supportive, and collaborative team.
  • Guidance and ongoing support from an experienced supervising physical therapist.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference during the critical first three years of a child's development.
  • A family-centered, play-based approach to early intervention.
  • Flexibility and the opportunity to build a schedule that works for both the provider and families.
  • An opportunity to grow professionally in pediatric early intervention.
