What they need

Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist

Part-Time with Opportunity to Grow to Full-Time | W-2 Position | San Carlos, CA
$75–$90/hour for direct clinical services

Come Grow With Us

The Neurodevelopmental Collective (NDC) is a growing, multidisciplinary, neurodiversity-affirming practice in San Carlos, and we are looking for a thoughtful and collaborative Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team and help us build our speech-language services.

We support children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. At NDC, communication is understood within the context of the whole child, including their development, relationships, regulation, sensory experiences, executive functioning, learning profile, environment, identity, and individual ways of connecting with others.

This position is designed to begin part-time and grow toward full-time as your caseload develops.

The Work

We are open to SLPs who particularly enjoy early childhood, school-age children, adolescents, young adults, or working across developmental stages.

Depending on your interests and expertise, your work may include:

  • Receptive and expressive language
  • Early communication and language development
  • Social communication and pragmatic language
  • Autistic communication
  • Gestalt language processing and different language-learning styles
  • AAC and multimodal communication
  • Declarative Language and communication approaches that support autonomy, connection, flexible thinking, and self-advocacy
  • Executive functioning and its relationship with communication
  • Narrative language
  • Language-based learning and literacy
  • Self-advocacy and communication of needs
  • Parent consultation and coaching
  • School consultation and collaboration
  • Collaboration with other members of a child’s care team

We are especially interested in an SLP who has experience with or a strong interest in gestalt language processing, Declarative Language, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches to communication. We value clinicians who are curious about the many ways children develop, process, and use language and who support authentic, multimodal communication.

Most clinical work will take place at our San Carlos clinic, with potential opportunities to provide observation, consultation, assessment, or services at local private schools and other community settings.

Multidisciplinary Evaluations

One of the unique opportunities at NDC is the ability to participate in comprehensive multidisciplinary neurodevelopmental evaluations, and interest in assessment is preferred for this position.

Depending on your experience and interests, this may include speech-language and social-communication assessment, clinical observation, interdisciplinary case consultation, and helping our team understand how a child’s communication and language profile fits within their broader development, learning, and everyday functioning.

Work as Part of a Multidisciplinary Team

NDC clinicians work collaboratively across disciplines. Our team brings together professionals with expertise in psychology, neurodevelopment, education, executive functioning, therapy, and related areas, with speech-language and occupational therapy becoming an increasingly important part of our model.

We hold regular multidisciplinary team meetings where clinicians can consult about cases, share perspectives, and learn from one another.

We are looking for an SLP who brings their own expertise while remaining curious and open to continued learning, feedback, consultation, emerging research, and new approaches. Depending on role, interests, eligibility, and practice needs, NDC may support continuing education, professional resources, consultation, and specialized training. Additional training opportunities may also be available in connection with a longer-term commitment to the practice.

Help Build Speech & Language at NDC

You would be joining at an exciting point in the development of speech-language services at NDC. For someone interested in helping build, there may be opportunities to develop new programs and groups, parent education, school partnerships, interdisciplinary services, clinical resources, or other supports for neurodivergent children and families.

As the service grows, there may also be opportunities for increased program-development and leadership responsibilities.

Flexibility & Support

We offer meaningful scheduling flexibility and will work collaboratively to develop a schedule that supports your desired caseload and professional goals while meeting the needs of the clinic and the children and families we serve.

NDC provides dedicated clinical and administrative support with scheduling, intake and records coordination, billing and practice systems, family and school coordination, documentation and report support as appropriate, clinical resources, technology, and other day-to-day practice needs.

Compensation & Benefits

$75–$90/hour for direct clinical services, based on relevant experience, expertise, assessment experience, specialized training, and responsibilities.

Approved nonclinical responsibilities, including documentation, multidisciplinary team meetings, consultation, required or approved training, and other approved practice responsibilities, are separately compensated.

This is a W-2 employee position.

Depending on employment status, role, eligibility, and applicable plan terms, NDC benefits and professional supports may include:

  • Employer-subsidized health insurance for eligible full-time employees, including support for dependent child coverage
  • 401(k) retirement benefits with an employer contribution/match for eligible employees
  • Paid time off
  • Professional liability insurance for eligible clinical services provided through NDC
  • Professional-development and specialized-training support based on role and eligibility
  • Wellness benefits for eligible employees
  • Collective Kids Grant, providing eligible full-time employees with support toward qualifying child-related expenses such as childcare, camps, tutoring, educational resources, and enrichment activities
  • Paid required and approved training, as applicable

Who We Hope to Find

We are looking for an SLP who:

  • Holds a current, active California Speech-Language Pathologist license in good standing
  • Has experience working with children and families
  • Practices from a genuinely neurodiversity-affirming perspective
  • Values children’s authentic communication and different pathways of language development
  • Has experience with or a strong interest in gestalt language processing and Declarative Language
  • Values AAC and multimodal communication
  • Thinks about communication within the context of development, regulation, executive functioning, learning, relationships, and environment
  • Uses communication to support connection, autonomy, flexible thinking, self-understanding, and self-advocacy
  • Enjoys working collaboratively with families and other professionals
  • Is interested in assessment and multidisciplinary evaluation
  • Values interdisciplinary thinking and teamwork
  • Is committed to continued learning and professional growth
  • Is interested in beginning part-time with the opportunity to grow toward full-time
