What they need

Do you have lived experience of addictions challenges and strong people skills?

Are you looking for an opportunity to use your experience and develop your skills further?

Do you have an ability to walk alongside others and support them to achieve their goals?

Then we have your ideal job!

We are currently looking to fill a permanent, full-time Peer Support Specialist role, based at our community hub in New Lynn.  Working closely with the Peer Support Manager and residential services teams, you will help to create hopeful and safe spaces for our tāngata whai ora as well as provide opportunities for them to reflect; learn, connect and move towards achieving their goals.

The Peer Support team provides peer-based recovery support to tāngata whai ora (people seeking wellness) within our Family Centre and Adult residential services. The Peer Support team works with tāngata whai ora during the transitional phases of their treatment, to help them onto their treatment pathway and support better recovery outcomes.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Personal lived experience, a story of recovery from addictions and the ability to be a positive role model to others
  • Completed specialist or intentional peer support training and/or have up to 1 years’ relevant experience, preferably in a peer role
  • Completed a personal WRAP plan
  • Experience of working in the social services, addictions and/or mental health sectors
  • An interest and/or knowledge of Māori tikanga and the customs and cultures of Pacific peoples
  • Computer skills e.g. data entry/word processing skills (we can provide further support if needed)
  • Full driver’s licence

In return we offer:

  • A competitive remuneration from $61,339 to $68,619 depending on the qualifications and experience
  • 22 days annual leave and 5 days study leave per annum
  • Skills and career development opportunities
  • A dynamic and supportive team who are passionate about what they do
