Peer Support Specialist

• Minimum of 20 hours per week.
• No formal education requirement.
• Must hold a current Wisconsin Certified Peer Specialist certification.
• At least one year of relevant peer support, behavioral health, recovery, or community-based experience.
• Services will primarily be provided in the community while meeting directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use lived experience appropriately to promote hope, recovery, self-determination, and personal choice.
• Build supportive, recovery-focused relationships while maintaining professional boundaries and respecting client rights.
• Help clients identify strengths, goals, natural supports, and community resources that support their recovery.
• Support clients in developing self-advocacy, problem-solving, coping, communication, and community-living skills.
• Connect clients with recovery resources, mutual-support opportunities, behavioral health services, and other community supports when appropriate.
• Encourage client participation in treatment and recovery planning while supporting the client's voice and preferences.
• Recognize signs of crisis or increased support needs and follow established procedures for obtaining assistance or making appropriate referrals.
• Collaborate with the client's service team while maintaining the distinct role and scope of peer support.
• Complete accurate, timely service documentation that reflects the support provided and the client's progress toward identified goals.
