Peer Support Specialist

Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. is seeking a qualified Peer Support Specialist (PSS) in the following county: New Hanover. The PSS promotes consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians, involvement and engagement with wellness services and recovery support, and engagement with primary care; conducts rapid screening for communicable disease, completes all tracking and reporting requirements for outcomes and evaluation and documents services provided; and assists clients in a variety of ways – sharing of personal recovery stories, resource acquisition, etc. The PSS works directly with the Opioid Treatment Programming staff and CHC Treatment providers to ensure continuity of care and engages in a team approach in the provision of services with treatment providers, and support services.

JOB TITLE: Peer Support Specialist

PROGRAM: Outpatient Treatment Program

LOCATION: Wilmington, NC New Hanover County

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diploma/Equivalent or higher, combined with knowledge of wellness and recovery-based concepts. Lived experiences with mental health and/or substance use disorders and at least 18 months of recovery.
• Must hold an active NC Peer Support Certificate
