Peer Support Worker

Job Summary

Warm Peer Support is seeking a motivated PRN Peer Support Specialist to join our growing organization. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to be part of something new and help build a peer-support program from the ground up.

The Peer Support Specialist will provide non-clinical, person-centered peer support based on the needs and preferences of each individual. Services may include individual support, group sessions, virtual support, telephone support, and in-person services.

Because Warm Peer Support is a growing organization, the position may involve limited hours initially, with opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and services as the organization expands.Compensation & Hours

This is a PRN position, meaning hours are based on client needs, referrals, and available services. Because Warm Peer Support is currently growing, there may be limited hours at the beginning.

The position is compensated on a monthly basis, with compensation determined by the services and responsibilities assigned.

As Warm Peer Support grows and additional clients and partnerships are established, there may be opportunities for increased hours, additional responsibilities, and expanded roles within the organization.

Duties

• Provide one-on-one peer support based on client needs and goals.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate peer-support groups.
• Provide support through phone, virtual platforms, and in-person sessions.
• Help individuals identify personal recovery and wellness goals.
• Provide encouragement, active listening, and non-judgmental support.
• Assist individuals with connecting to community resources.
• Support individuals with developing wellness and recovery plans.
• Maintain appropriate professional and peer-support boundaries.
• Document services and interactions appropriately.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow Warm Peer Support policies and procedures.
• Participate in meetings, training, and organizational development activities as needed.
• Communicate with leadership regarding client needs, scheduling, and service concerns.
• Represent Warm Peer Support professionally within the community.

Skills

• Demonstrated experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders.
• Strong crisis management skills with the ability to perform crisis intervention effectively.
• Knowledge of behavioral health principles, addiction counseling, and harm reduction strategies.
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport across diverse populations.
• Experience working with culturally diverse communities and understanding cultural sensitivities.
• Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques and recovery peer support practices.
• Ability to mentor others, advocate for peer support initiatives, and share personal recovery experiences responsibly.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and maintaining strict patient confidentiality.
