What they need

Are you passionate about people, technology and transforming people experience?

This is an exciting opportunity to join University Hospitals Tees at a pivotal time in our digital workforce journey. We are looking for an ambitious and forward-thinking People Systems Manager to lead the development of our people systems portfolio, ensuring our technology supports the delivery of outstanding patient care through an engaged, empowered and high-performing workforce.

As we continue to enhance the capabilities of Electronic Staff Record (ESR) and prepare for the implementation of the national Future Workforce Solution (FWS), this role offers the chance to influence and shape how workforce technology is used across one of the largest integrated healthcare organisations in the region.

This is much more than a systems management role.

Reporting into the Head of People Services, you will provide strategic leadership for workforce systems, driving innovation, continuous improvement and digital transformation across People Services.

You will lead a dedicated team responsible for the delivery, development and optimisation of ESR and future workforce technologies, ensuring systems are efficient, integrated, user-friendly and aligned to organisational priorities.

Working closely with clinical, operational and corporate leaders, you will identify opportunities to maximise technology, streamline processes and improve the experience of employees and managers throughout the employment lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading the strategic development and management of ESR and associated workforce systems.

Preparing the organisation for the implementation and ongoing development of the Future Workforce Solution.

Driving digital transformation projects that improve workforce processes and colleague experience.

Identifying opportunities to automate and simplify people processes.

Working collaboratively with senior stakeholders to translate organisational needs into innovative system solutions.

Ensuring data quality, governance, compliance and system integrity.

Leading, motivating and developing a high-performing systems team.

Representing the organisation regionally and nationally on workforce systems developments and best practice initiatives.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust have come together to form University Hospitals Tees. As a result, post holders may be required to work across sites within both organisations.

Across University Hospitals Tees, our ambition is to be the best place to work, ensuring we have the right staff in the right roles at the right time to deliver outstanding patient care and experience.

We are committed to supporting our staff through an inclusive and supportive working environment, offering health and wellbeing initiatives, staff benefits, and opportunities for personal and professional development.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive recruitment process and welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates, including those who first language is not English.

We support the 'Making Every Contact Count' approach to behaviour change in the promotion of health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

We are looking for someone who:
Has significant experience of ESR and workforce systems management.

Can think strategically whilst delivering operational excellence.

Is passionate about improving services through technology and innovation.

Has strong project management and change management skills.

Builds effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Can translate complex technical information into practical business solutions.

Has experience of leading and developing teams.

Consideration may be given to appointing an applicant at Band 6 as a development opportunity, with progression to Band 7 subject to achievement of the required competencies and criteria. This approach recognises that applicants may not currently meet all aspects of the Band 7 person specification but may demonstrate the potential, relevant experience and commitment required to develop into the role.
