Per Diem Molecular Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Molecular Laboratory Technician to support our clinical molecular testing laboratory on a per-diem basis. The ideal candidate has hands-on PCR experience and can independently perform testing, monitor quality control, and maintain complete and accurate laboratory documentation.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform molecular PCR testing on clinical specimens in accordance with laboratory SOPs.
• Prepare specimens, reagents, controls, and PCR runs.
• Perform, document, and review daily quality-control activities.
• Review test results and Ct values; promptly escalate invalid, unexpected, or questionable results to the laboratory supervisor.
• Maintain complete and accurate testing, QC, instrument, temperature, maintenance, and inventory records.
• Follow laboratory safety, specimen-handling, contamination-control, and documentation procedures.
• Assist with reagent and supply inventory, laboratory organization, and routine operational readiness.
• Support basic instrument and testing troubleshooting under laboratory procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, medical laboratory science, or a related scientific field.
• Hands-on molecular PCR testing experience.
• Ability to independently follow written procedures and maintain accurate technical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and reliability.
• Availability to work on site in Edison, NJ, approximately 10–15 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-complexity molecular PCR testing CLIA clinical laboratory.
• Familiarity with LIMS, specimen accessioning, and contamination-prevention practices.

Pay: $30.88 - $37.18 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 10.0 per week
