Performance Test Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Performance Test Engineer with hands-on expertise in Apache JMeter, Micro Focus/OpenText LoadRunner, and Splunk. The candidate will be responsible for conducting performance testing, identifying bottlenecks, analysing application behaviour under different workloads, and ensuring application stability, scalability, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute performance test scripts using JMeter and LoadRunner.
• Perform load, stress, endurance, scalability, and volume testing.
• Analyse response times, throughput, transaction rates, and error rates.
• Use Splunk to analyse application logs, monitor system behaviour, and investigate performance issues.
• Identify performance bottlenecks across application, database, and infrastructure layers.
• Collaborate with development, QA, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to resolve performance issues.
• Prepare performance test reports and provide recommendations for optimisation.
• Establish performance baselines and compare results across test cycles.
• Support root-cause analysis and performance tuning activities.

Mandatory Skills

• Hands-on experience in Performance Testing.
• Strong experience with Apache JMeter.
• Experience with LoadRunner scripting and execution.
• Working knowledge of Splunk for log analysis and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of performance metrics such as response time, throughput, TPS, and error rate.
• Knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS protocols and client-server architecture.
• Experience analysing test results and identifying performance bottlenecks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good to Have

• Knowledge of SQL and database performance analysis.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or Grafana.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix commands.
• Experience with API performance testing.
• Knowledge of CI/CD integration for performance testing.
• Understanding of cloud performance testing.
