Performer

Magic Elf / Store Performer
Lapland | Manhattan, NY | $21 per hour
Seasonal position | October 30–December 31, 2026

Step into character and bring the world of Lapland to life.

Do you love entertaining people, improvising and turning a simple interaction into something memorable? Can you spark a child’s imagination and make a whole family feel part of a story?

Lapland is opening its first-ever U.S. store in Manhattan, and we’re looking for warm, imaginative and expressive people to join us as Magic Elves / Store Performers.

Founded in the UK, Lapland creates immersive Christmas experiences filled with storytelling, imagination and unforgettable moments for families. Our New York store will bring that world to life, with you at the heart of the magic.

Your role

You’ll step into costume, discover your Elf persona and welcome guests as a character from the world of Lapland.

The store will be your performance space. Through playful conversations, spontaneous interactions and storytelling, you’ll make guests feel they’ve stepped into a magical world. Whether you’re welcoming a family, sharing a story with a curious child or creating a memorable photo moment, you’ll help make every visit feel special.

This role focuses on performance and guest interaction within an immersive retail environment.

What you’ll be doing

• Bringing your Elf character to life and staying in character throughout guest interactions.
• Welcoming children and families into the world of Lapland.
• Roaming the store and creating opportunities for playful, spontaneous conversations.
• Using improvisation and Lapland’s stories to respond to guests’ questions and curiosity.
• Helping create magical moments around the sleigh and photo opportunities.
• Bringing the stories behind Lapland’s gifts and keepsakes to life.
• Adapting your performance to each guest, from gently engaging a shy child to entertaining an enthusiastic family.
• Working with fellow performers and the store team to maintain an immersive, welcoming atmosphere.

Who we’re looking for

You may have experience in acting, drama, musical theater, improvisation, children’s entertainment, theme parks or immersive experiences.

Formal performance training isn’t essential. What matters is your ability to embrace a character, connect with people and bring warmth, imagination and energy to every interaction.

You’ll fit right in if you:

• Enjoy performing and feel confident approaching and engaging guests.
• Can think on your feet and respond naturally while staying in character.
• Love interacting with children and families.
• Understand how to make guests feel part of a story.
• Are comfortable wearing a costume and following Lapland’s wardrobe and appearance guidelines.
• Bring a dependable, collaborative attitude and sustained enthusiasm during busy days.

Availability

• Available for mandatory paid training on October 30 or October 31, 2026.
• Available during the November 4–December 31, 2026 season, including evenings and weekends.
• Able to commute to 3 West 57th Street, Manhattan, NY 10019.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Exact shift times, weekly hours and contract dates will be confirmed.

What’s in it for you?

• $21 per hour.
• Paid training to introduce you to Lapland’s world and prepare you for your character.
• A creative environment where you can use your performance and improvisation skills.
• Complimentary coffee, tea and soft drinks.
• Employee merchandise discount on selected dates.
• The opportunity to be part of Lapland’s very first U.S. store team.
