About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Marine Engineer to join LPC’s Tug Team on a permanent, full-time basis. Working across our two tugs, you’ll play an important role in ensuring our vessels are safe, reliable and ready to deliver efficient tug services to LPC’s customers.
This is a varied role combining marine engineering and tug operations. You’ll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, including routine servicing, equipment start-up and shutdown, monitoring vessel mechanical and control systems, and responding quickly to breakdowns. You’ll also coordinate specialist service contractors, identify opportunities to improve maintenance practices, contribute to long-term asset management planning, and take an active role in promoting health and safety and continuous improvement.
Alongside your engineering responsibilities, you’ll support day-to-day tug operations, including handling mooring lines, attaching to and detaching from ships, operating winches, and monitoring line stowage and integrity. Working closely with the Tug Master and arriving and departing ship crews, you’ll help ensure tug assistance is delivered safely and efficiently.
You’ll work as part of an integrated team, fulfilling the agreed roster on a relieving, ad hoc basis across both LPC tugs.
What sets you apart
You’re a calm, professional and solutions-focused individual who takes pride in your technical capability and brings a strong commitment to safety, teamwork and customer service. You’re comfortable working in a small team, can respond effectively when issues arise, and take a proactive approach to maintaining equipment and improving how things are done.
- A minimum Marine Engineer Class 5 (MEC5) qualification, or equivalent.
- Strong technical capability, including experience with modern PLC-based systems, and the ability to diagnose and solve technical problems.
- An understanding of maintenance safety management systems, including contractor management.
- The ability to demonstrate leadership, act with integrity and be a positive role model for health and safety.
- The physical fitness required to lift and move heavy items, work in confined spaces, and operate in variable weather and sea conditions, with the ability to interpret distances accurately.
