SMG is seeking a Permit Writer for a night shift position in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Schedule

12-hour overnight schedule on a rotating 3/4-day workweek, alternating between 48-hour and 36-hour weeks, with every other weekend off.

Additional Information

• SMG full-time, benefited Associates are eligible for Premium Pay after working 40 billable hours for the week. Premium pay is at a 1.35 multiplier.
• Annual pay/merit review/increase.

Overview of Job Responsibilities

• Issue and manage work permits for construction activities.
• Provide field HSE support and oversight for contractors performing work on-site.
• Conduct safety observations and communicate findings to project stakeholders.
• Perform and document audits, evaluations, and verifications to ensure compliance with safety programs and project requirements.
• Serve as a liaison between project teams and contractors during field operations.
• Participate in pre-planning meetings, safety investigations, and incident reviews.
• Provide technical guidance and interpretation of OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards.
• Support a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance across construction and general industry environments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Construction and/or General Industry permitting experience
• A degree in safety or related is preferred
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of confined space, hot work, and general permitting
• Ability to work nights and weekends

Physical Demands of the job may include

• Moving about long distances
• Ascending/Descending stairs and ladders
• Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
• Working in extreme weather
• Being exposed to loud noises
• Wearing personal protective gear correctly

Salary Description

$69,000 - $94,000
