What they need
**Unleashing potential and building connections:**Do you believe in a strengths-based, partnership approach to working with rangatahi? Are you passionate about walking alongside young people as they step into adulthood, advocating for them, and supporting their growth? If that sounds like you — this is the role you’ve been looking for!
About the Role
We’re excited to offer a unique opportunity to join our Transitions Service, which is at the forefront of a national movement supporting rangatahi into more independent living. As a Personal Advisor, you will take a holistic approach to helping young people navigate the critical stage of becoming independent adults.
No two days are the same — here’s a glimpse of what you might do:
- Accommodation: Accompany a rangatahi to view a flat, support them with budgeting for bond or rent, and help them gather household items or strengthen tenancy skills.
- Health and Wellbeing: Work alongside rangatahi to set and achieve personal wellbeing goals, from joining a gym to shooting hoops — meeting them where they’re at.
- Employment and Training: Explore vocational opportunities by visiting job sites or training providers, and support practical steps like transport planning or tools for work.
About You
You will bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Social Work or a related field
- Experience in youth work or the social services sector
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A can-do attitude and strong problem-solving ability
- Experience coaching or mentoring others
- Excellent time management and attention to detail
- Integrity, empathy, and a positive, strengths-based approach
- A current full NZ driver license
