Personal Care Aide

Overview

The primary purpose of your job position is to clean resident rooms, hallways, and common areas and assist residents with their ADL's in accordance with the facility's mission philosophy and as directed by the Administrator. As the Personal Care Aide, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Responsibilities

• Upon beginning and end of each shift the personal care aide is to make rounds to all porch areas of building to remove trash and cigarette butts.
• Responds to residents needs in a timely manner
• Assists with ADL's to include oral, toileting and hair care, bathing, dressing and undressing, organizing and storage of residents personal belongings
• Observes and reports to supervisor any signs and symptoms of physical, emotional and spiritual distress
• Clean and straightens resident rooms and closets. Ensures that resident's rooms are safe and comfortable and maintained in an attractive manner, and resident's personal items are safeguarded.
• Strips and sanitizes resident's beds. Makes resident's beds with clean linen.
• Transports and serves food to the residents in the dining area.
• During bedtime hours make bed checks no less than once (one time) every 2 hours to assess status of resident.

Skills

• Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly valued
• Strong ability to observe and assess patient conditions with attention to detail and accuracy
• Knowledge of care plans, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and patient personal care assistance
• Proficiency in manual handling techniques including the use of Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of client information
• Ability to perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and meal preparation efficiently
• Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork in caregiving settings
