Personal Care Assistant

Job Overview

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
• Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs, patient behavior, and overall condition; promptly report any concerns to healthcare professionals.
• Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality and safety.
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed.
• Facilitate patient transfers using manual handling techniques or equipment such as Hoyer lifts, ensuring safe mobility.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols.
• Document care activities accurately in compliance with facility policies and resident’s rights, including progress notes and incident reports.

Skills

• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
• Strong patient observation skills with the ability to monitor vital signs and recognize changes in condition.
• Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is preferred.
• Proficiency in patient transfer methods, manual handling, CPR, first aid, and basic life support (BLS).
• Ability to assist with ADLs efficiently while respecting individual preferences and privacy.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients, families, and healthcare team members effectively.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.

Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
