Personal Care Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support and care to individuals in various care settings. In this vital role, you will assist clients with daily activities, monitor their health and well-being, and promote a safe, respectful environment. Responsibilities

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity
• Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, patient behavior, and overall condition; report changes promptly to healthcare professionals
• Support medication administration following prescribed protocols while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and confidentiality
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences
• Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to safely move clients between beds, chairs, or wheelchairs
• Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control standards in line with healthcare regulations
• Document care activities accurately in care plans and communicate effectively with team members regarding resident progress or concerns

Requirements

• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is essential
• Ability to perform patient monitoring tasks including vital signs measurement, medication administration, and resident’s rights advocacy
• Proficiency in manual handling techniques like the use of Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods; capable of heavy lifting when necessary
• Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications in hospice care or geriatrics are a plus
• Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration; experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities is advantageous
• Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and respecting resident confidentiality at all times
