Personal Care Assistant

Duties

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure comfort and hygiene
• Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, recognizing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals
• Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safe and compliant practices
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
• Facilitate patient transfer using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods to ensure safety during mobility tasks
• Maintain cleanliness of client living spaces by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring a hygienic environment
• Provide transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or community outings to promote social engagement and independence
• Document care activities thoroughly in accordance with facility policies and resident rights standards
• Support clients with cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer's by implementing memory care strategies and engaging them in meaningful activities
• Assist with specialized care needs including hospice support, neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum support, or developmental disabilities

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or in senior care settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities is highly preferred
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, first aid, CPR, and vital signs monitoring is essential
• Experience with care plans, resident’s rights advocacy, manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts, and patient transfer methods is advantageous
• Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with mobility tasks using proper patient transfer methods
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality of client information
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and professionalism in caregiving roles involving home & community care or long-term care environments
• Valid certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications related to geriatrics or hospice care are a plus
