Personal Care Assistant

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques.
• Monitor individuals health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
• Support medication administration following care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy.
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and preparation.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control standards are met.
• Provide transportation assistance for medical appointments, errands, or community activities to promote social engagement and independence.
• Document care activities thoroughly in client records and communicate effectively with team members.

Skills

• Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental or intellectual disabilities is highly desirable.
• Strong observation skills combined with the ability to monitor vital signs and recognize signs of distress or deterioration.
• Ability to complete necessary training for this position and pass a background check including first-aid and CPR training.
• Proficiency in assisting with ADLs, patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts, and manual handling techniques ensures safety during patient transfers.
• Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with other personal care assistants.
• Experience working within a home health setting.
• Familiarity with medication administration procedures and maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards safeguards client confidentiality.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
