Personal Care Assistant

Job Overview

As a Personal Care Assistant, you’ll provide respectful, hands-on support that helps clients and residents maintain comfort, safety, and independence. You may work in home care, home and community care, group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, hospice, or long-term care settings. Your impact: Attentive personal care and observation help clients, residents, and their care teams respond to changing needs and follow care plans.

Duties

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and personal care.
• Support meal preparation and cooking, cleaning, and personal transportation as assigned.
• Observe and monitor clients, communicate changes, and follow care plans; assist with vital signs and medication administration only as authorized.
• Use safe manual handling and patient transfer methods, including a Hoyer lift when trained and appropriate.
• Provide direct support and compassionate communication, respecting each person’s rights, privacy, and dignity.

Qualifications

• Patient care, caregiving, senior care, geriatrics, home health, or home care experience is helpful; experience in assisted living, group homes, nursing homes, hospice, memory care, or long-term care is also valued.
• Experience supporting people with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, autism, intellectual or developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or other disabilities is an asset.
• Knowledge of patient observation, patient monitoring, nursing, social work, care plans, and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) privacy practices is beneficial.
• First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills are preferred. Follow applicable safety procedures; heavy lifting may be required.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
