What they need

Overview

We are seeking an additional part time personal assistant to join our small team of carers to help support our daughter with complex needs. Katie-Lou is 28, is quadraplegic, non verbal and has an anoxic brain injury. This is an in-home (mostly) position, in a relaxed environment working with a friendly team and mum and dad.

The post is for an average of 6 hours per week, but the fixed shifts will be every Monday 4pm - 8pm and every other Friday 4pm - 8pm. Additional non fixed hours will be available e.g. to cover staff sickness and holidays and to help with occasional overnight and weekend shifts.

Because of the nature of the hours available, this post would suit somebody looking to supplement their existing income or someone who is retired or semi-retired.

Experience working with people with complex needs and personal care is desirable, but not essential. Being of a caring and amenable nature and being diligent and responsible are of more importance. Being a driver is preferable, but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and all aspects of personal care
  • Administering and recording drugs, food and water intake via gastrostomy
  • Drive and/or attend appointments e.g. hospital visits, or social activities
  • Assist with mobility requirements inc hoisting, bed to chair, chair to bed transfers, positioning in bed and minor physio activities
  • Be proactive and partake in social/sensory activities
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with family members, and healthcare teams to ensure quality care
  • Be observant and monitor Katie-Lou's health status, changes in condition, and raise concerns promptly and accurately
  • This role offers a genuine opportunity to make a positive impact every day. We value energetic individuals who are committed to delivering high-quality personal care in a respectful and supportive manner.

Pay: From £15.00 per hour
