Personal Care Assistant (PCA)

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide exceptional support and care to individuals in various settings, including home health, assisted living, nursing homes, and community-based programs. In this vital role, you will assist clients with daily activities, monitor their health status, and promote their independence and well-being. Duties

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure comfort and dignity
• Support patient monitoring by observing health status changes and reporting any concerns promptly
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
• Help with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning client living areas to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
• Provide transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or community activities using appropriate client transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques
• Administer medication under supervision according to care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
• Support clients with cognitive impairments like Alzheimer’s disease or dementia through specialized memory care techniques
• Assist with mobility and transfers using proper patient transfer methods to prevent injury for both client and caregiver
• Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and care plans
• Engage in effective communication with clients to promote social interaction and emotional well-being

Experience

• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to observe patients closely and respond appropriately to their needs
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or intellectual disabilities support is advantageous
• Knowledge of patient care procedures including vital signs measurement, manual handling, heavy lifting, CPR, first aid, and medication administration
• Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care strategies, hospice care practices, and social work principles is beneficial
• Proven track record of providing compassionate caregiving for seniors or individuals with disabilities in long-term or community-based settings
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards
