Job Overview - for 2nd shift and weekend shifts

We are a private care team, seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Attendant to provide essential support and care to an individual using a power wheelchair. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for people through attentive personal care, assistance with daily activities, and compassionate communication. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, observation skills, adherence to safety protocols, and a proactive approach to communication & caregiving.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity.
• Operate patient transfer equipment (Hoyer lift) safely and effectively, ensuring proper manual handling techniques are used at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness of living space through routine cleaning tasks, promoting a safe and hygienic environment.
• Provide transportation/driving support for medical appointments or community outings, ensuring safety during travel.
• Follow care plans meticulously and document patient progress accurately in accordance with healthcare standards.
• Engage in observation and communication to foster trust and ensure individual’s rights are respected at all times.
• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to perform patient monitoring and assist with complex care plans involving dementia or memory care.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders enhances suitability for this role.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards is essential for maintaining privacy and compliance.
• Proven skills in manual handling techniques such as heavy lifting and transfer methods are required for safe support.
