Personal Support Worker

Job Summary
Mental Minute Kare, LLC DBA Mental Minute Kare is seeking compassionate, dependable, and professional Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)/Residential Caregivers to support individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral or mental health needs in a residential setting. Our goal is to provide a safe, structured, supportive, and person-centered environment that promotes independence, dignity, community involvement, and quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, hygiene, and mobility as needed.
• Encourage residents to develop and maintain independent living and daily life skills.
• Follow each resident's individualized care, support, and behavioral plans.
• Observe residents for changes in behavior, health, mood, or functioning and promptly report concerns according to company procedures.
• Assist with or administer medications as permitted by training, company policy, and applicable requirements.
• Prepare meals and assist residents with eating and dietary needs when necessary.
• Support residents with community activities, appointments, transportation, recreation, and social engagement as assigned.
• Utilize approved transfer and mobility equipment safely when required.
• Implement behavioral strategies and de-escalation techniques according to residents' approved plans and staff training.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe residential environment.
• Complete shift notes, medication documentation, incident reports, and other required records accurately and on time.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies.
• Participate in required staff meetings, training, supervision, and continuing education.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established safety and emergency procedures.
• Promote residents' dignity, rights, choices, independence, and inclusion at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in a group home, residential habilitation program, assisted living setting, behavioral health program, home health setting, or developmental disability program is preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, autism, behavioral challenges, or mental health needs is strongly preferred.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred; required training must be completed as applicable to the position.
• Ability and willingness to complete all APD and Mental Minute Kare required training, background screening, and competency requirements.
• Ability to follow behavior support plans, medication procedures, safety protocols, and individualized support plans.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Dependable, patient, compassionate, and able to maintain professional boundaries.
• Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during behavioral or medical emergencies.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, bending, assisting with transfers, and lifting as required for assigned residents.
• Must maintain confidentiality and protect residents' personal and health information.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license may be required depending on assigned duties and shift.

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / PRN
Pay: $15.00–$20.00 per hour
Schedule: Day / Evening / Overnight / Weekend shifts
Location: Tallahassee, FL
