Personal Trainer

Tahoe Donner Association is looking for a fun and exciting Personal Trainer to join our Trout Creek Recreation Center operations! Personal Assistants are responsible for providing individual training to their client(s) through observation and education of client on fitness safety and maintains an enjoyable atmosphere for the client. Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to. Assists clients, answers questions, and keeps a positive exercise experience for members by preparing appropriate equipment and exercise handouts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provides excellent customer service to customers, employees and business partners.
• Instructs participants individually in maintaining exertion levels to maximize benefits from exercise routines. Observes participants and informs them of corrective measures to help them improve their skills. Monitors participants progress and adapts programs as needed.
• Plans routines, chooses music, and selects different movements for each set of muscles depending on participants capabilities and limitations.
• Evaluates participants abilities, needs, and physical conditions, and develops suitable training programs to meet special requirements. Teaches proper breathing techniques used during physical exertion.
• Explains and enforces safety rules and regulations governing sports, recreational activities and the use of exercise equipment.
• Provides clients with information and resources regarding nutrition, weight control, and lifestyle issues. Administers emergency first aid, wraps injuries, treats minor chronic disabilities or refers injured persons to physicians.

We are looking for the following qualifications:

• Demonstrates excellent communication and “People” skills; Must love dealing with people.
• Act in a professional manner and respect all users at all times.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certifications for infant, child and adults required.
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of exercise science and fitness techniques
• Understanding of nutrition and diet.

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or associate degree from a two-year college or technical school plus two years’ relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
