What they need
Join Our Growing Family-Run Team – Scottish Borders
Pest Force Northumberland is a fun, hardworking, family-run business that is continuing to grow across the region. As part of our expansion, we’re looking for a reliable, practical and motivated person to join our team, working across the Scottish Borders area.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone based in or around the Scottish Borders who is looking for a varied, hands-on career with an established and growing pest control company.
This is not your average desk job — every day is different. One day you may be carrying out a drain inspection to locate rat entry points, the next you could be installing bird proofing on rooftops, carrying out treatments in loft spaces, or helping solve complex pest issues for customers.
We are looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in doing a job properly and isn’t afraid to get stuck in.
What the Role Involves
- Carrying out pest control inspections and treatments across the Scottish Borders
- Identifying pest activity and locating entry points
- Drain inspections and surveys
- Bird proofing and proofing repairs
- Working in lofts, crawl spaces, gardens, commercial premises and at height
- Completing treatment reports and digital paperwork
- Using problem-solving skills to find long-term solutions for customers
- Delivering excellent customer service while representing the company professionally
- Travelling between domestic and commercial customers throughout the Scottish Borders and surrounding areas
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Full UK driving licence
- Good practical skills and common sense
- Comfortable working at heights
- Comfortable around insects, rodents, dirty environments and confined spaces
- IT literate and able to complete reports using a mobile device/tablet
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, punctual and professional attitude
- Keen eye for detail
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
- Ideally based in or within easy travelling distance of the Scottish Borders
Bonus Skills – Not Essential:
- Experience in pest control, drainage, roofing, construction or property maintenance
- Experience using power tools
- Customer-facing experience
- BPCA/RSPH pest control qualifications
Full training can be provided for the right person, so previous pest control experience is not essential.
Working Hours
Typical hours are around 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.
However, flexibility is important as some larger jobs may occasionally require longer days.
Overtime opportunities may also be available.
What You’ll Get
- Company van provided
- Full training and ongoing support
- Uniform and equipment supplied
- Company pension
- Varied work with no two days the same
- Friendly and supportive family-run team
