Trainee Pest Technician

Dentec Pest Management is a locally owned and operated Pest Control company.

We currently have a full-time position for a new Pest Technician or a Trainee Pest Technician to cover Dubbo and the surrounding region.

Requirements for the position:

• Current Drivers Licence
• Certificate in Pest Management + Timber Pests, or willingness to obtain via distant ed and training in Sydney
• Minimum commitment of 2 years
• Ability to problem solve and take initiative
• Personable and confident verbal and written communication skills
• Neat and tidy personal presentation
• Good computer skills and ability to learn online programs and systems
• Outgoing and positive personality who enjoys working with a team or unsupervised
• Flexibility to occasionally work overtime, out of general work hours
• Maintain a level of health and fitness
• Willingness to obtain Working with children check and police check

Areas of Training for a Trainee Pest Technician:

As a Trainee Pest Management Technician, you’ll receive comprehensive training in all aspects of pest control and timber pest management. Our program is designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge, and qualifications needed to excel in this rewarding industry. Key areas of training include:  

1. Pest Identification and Biology

 

• Understanding common pests such as ants, spiders, rodents, cockroaches, and termites.  
• Learning about pest lifecycles, habits, and the environmental factors that influence infestations.

  

2. Inspection Techniques

 

• Conducting thorough property inspections (sub-floor and roof void included) to identify pest activity and risks.  
• Using tools such as moisture meters, thermal imaging, and borescopes to detect hidden timber pests.

  

3. Treatment Methods and Application

 

• Safe and effective use of pest control products, including sprays, baits, and traps.  
• Implementing timber pest management solutions, such as termite treatments and barriers.

  

4. Safety and Compliance

 

• Adhering to workplace health and safety regulations.  
• Understanding chemical handling, storage, and application safety procedures.  
• Learning about government and industry compliance requirements.

  

5. Customer Service Skills

 

• Communicating effectively with customers to explain findings, treatment plans, and preventative measures.  
• Building trust and maintaining a professional & friendly relationship with the clients.

6. Technical Reporting and Documentation

• Writing detailed inspection reports and treatment plans.  
• Maintaining accurate records for compliance and customer reference.

  

7. Equipment Operation and Maintenance

  

• Proper use and care of pest control tools and equipment.  
• Ensuring tools are maintained in good working condition for effective performance.

  

8. Certification Preparation

  

• Preparing for relevant pest management certifications and licensing exams.  
• Gaining hands-on experience under the guidance of licensed professionals.

  

By the end of the training, you’ll be fully licensed General Pest Management & Timber Pests Technician, via Distant Ed and training in Sydney, equipped to handle pest control and timber pest management independently, delivering excellent service to clients.
