The Petition Circulator position is a part-time to full-time, contract, Chicago, IL based position. We are unable to accommodate relocation applicants due to our tight deadline.

In this paid position, you will actively engage with the public to gather signatures for the People's Choice for Chicago Mayor, Jessica 'Jesse' Maronto, help to drive civic change and support grassroots initiatives.

Your enthusiasm, communication skills, and community engagement experience will be key to successfully connecting with diverse individuals outdoors. If you’re motivated by community service, enjoy outdoor work, and excel at engaging people directly, this is the perfect opportunity to contribute meaningfully while developing valuable skills.

Duties

• Engage with community members face-to-face to explain campaign goals and gather signatures in outdoor settings.
• Conduct door-to-door canvassing campaigns, ensuring respectful and effective communication with residents.
• Promote awareness of the Oasis Grocery Access Program initiative through friendly conversations, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in food dessert zones.
• Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor while working in various outdoor environments for extended periods...AKA shake off rejection with a smile.
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily signature collection goals and ensure compliance with legal guidelines.
• Assist in community engagement efforts by representing the organization positively at public events or neighborhood outreach activities.

Qualifications

• Reliable availability for daily assignments, may include early mornings,
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
• Prior customer service or community engagement experience preferred.
• Ability to walk for long periods in outdoor conditions and work flexible hours during evenings or weekends as needed.
• Bilingual skills are a plus to connect with a broader range of community members.
• Experience with fundraising or telemarketing can be beneficial for understanding outreach strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise or lead small teams is advantageous but not required.
• Comfortable using mobile devices for data entry and signature collection in real-time.

Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 – 56.0 per week
