Pharmacist

Pharmacist: Responsible for providing safe and effective pharmaceutical care, ensuring the accurate dispensing and supply of medicines, counselling patients, reviewing prescriptions, identifying potential medication-related problems, and working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to optimise patient outcomes. The pharmacist maintains high professional standards, complies with legal and regulatory requirements, and promotes patient safety and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Dispense and supply medicines accurately and safely.
• Review prescriptions for appropriate dosage, interactions, allergies, and contraindications.
• Counsel patients on how to use medicines correctly and safely.
• Provide advice on side effects, drug interactions, and missed doses.
• Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Conduct medication reviews and support patients with long-term conditions.
• Maintain accurate patient and medication records.
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy legislation, professional standards, and workplace procedures.
• Manage stock, including ordering, storage, and disposal of medicines.
• Support public-health services such as vaccination, smoking cessation, and health screening where appropriate.
• Identify and report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, and safeguarding concerns.
• Maintain professional knowledge through continuing professional development (CPD).
