About the role

Northern Heart Hospital is seeking a dedicated and fully qualified Pharmacist to fill a vital, full-time role at the forefront of patient care. In this position, you will act as a trusted expert in medication management, deliver impactful patient counselling, and collaborate closely with our network of healthcare partners. Your clinical expertise will directly enhance patient safety, optimize treatment efficacy, and elevate the overall standard of high-quality care our organization is known for.

Key responsibilities

• Review prescription orders to ensure safe medication use, check for drug interactions, and provide precise medication counselling to patients.
• Work closely with doctors, consultants, and nurses to optimize patient drug therapy and participate in antimicrobial stewardship programs.
• Maintain accurate records for Psychotropic and Dangerous Drugs in accordance with Malaysian laws. Monitor stock consumption to maximize efficiency and minimize wastage.
• Formulate and supervise the compounding of extemporaneous preparations while maintaining high distribution and manufacturing standards.
• Assist with duty rosters, statistics reporting, and standard operating procedure (SOP) reviews. Ensure strict adherence to infection control and environmental safety regulations.
• Willingness to work on shifts, extended hours, or participate in on-call duties when required.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
• Current valid pharmacist registration and licence from the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, therapeutics, and medicinal chemistry
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
• Proficiency in pharmacy practice management systems and electronic dispensing software
• Sound understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, legislation, and best practice standards in Malaysia
• Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and patient safety
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Professional approach to ethical and confidential patient information management
• Previous community pharmacy or healthcare experience is preferred
• Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and maintain competency in pharmaceutical practice
