JOB DESCRIPTION: PHARMACIST

Job Title: Pharmacist
Department: Pharmacy Operations
Reports To: Chief Pharmacist

Key Responsibilities

• Prescription Management and Dispensing: Review prescriptions and dispense medications accurately in accordance with professional standards, ensuring patient safety and appropriate medication use.
• Customer Counselling: Provide professional advice to customers on medication usage, dosage, side effects, drug interactions, storage, and general health concerns.
• Sales and Customer Service: Drive pharmacy sales through excellent customer service, appropriate product recommendations, and effective management of customer enquiries while maintaining ethical pharmaceutical practice.
• Inventory and Stock Management: Monitor stock levels, ensure timely replenishment, conduct stock counts, and maintain accurate records of pharmaceutical products.
• Expiry and Product Quality Control: Regularly inspect medications for expiry dates, damages, and storage conditions, ensuring that expired, damaged, or unsuitable products are promptly isolated and reported.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) requirements, applicable pharmaceutical laws, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Staff Supervision and Training: Supervise pharmacy assistants and other assigned staff, provide on-the-job training, delegate duties, and ensure compliance with operational and customer service standards.
• Cash and Transaction Accountability: Ensure accurate processing and documentation of pharmacy sales, prescription transactions, returns, and other assigned financial activities in line with company procedures.
• Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit timely reports on sales performance, stock discrepancies, expired products, medication incidents, and other pharmacy operational activities.
• Branch Operations and Performance: Ensure the smooth daily operation of the pharmacy, maintain a clean and organised work environment, monitor operational performance, resolve customer complaints, and implement management directives to achieve branch objectives.
