Pharmacist in Charge

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Pharmacist in Charge to lead our pharmacy operations with enthusiasm and precision. Duties

• Lead and manage the pharmacy team, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, to ensure efficient daily operations
• Oversee medication dispensing, compounding medications, and IV infusions while maintaining aseptic techniques and USP 797 standards
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, medical confidentiality policies, and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA
• Conduct patient assessments, provide medication counseling, immunizations, and support pain management initiatives
• Maintain accurate inventory management, including drug regulation adherence and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance
• Utilize Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Health Record (EHR), and other EMR systems to document patient care activities effectively
• Monitor pharmacy operations for quality assurance, safety protocols, and clinical confidentiality policies while managing risk in acute care or hospital settings
• Facilitate staff training on pharmacy software, drug regulation updates, and clinical procedures such as IV insertion and aseptic technique
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medical management plans tailored to diverse patient populations including pediatrics and LTC residents

Qualifications

• Valid pharmacist license with practicing authority in the relevant jurisdiction
• Extensive experience in clinical pharmacy settings such as hospital or acute care environments
• Critical care experience highly preferred; familiarity with pain management, immunizations, and medication administration protocols
• Demonstrated leadership skills managing pharmacy teams within community or LTC pharmacies
• Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology terminology, and medical terminology relevant to pharmaceutical practice
• Proficiency with pharmacy software systems including PIS, EHR/EHR systems; experience with inventory management tools is essential
• Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications in immunizations or sterile compounding are advantageous
• In-depth understanding of drug regulation laws, HIPAA compliance standards, USP 797 guidelines for sterile preparations, and healthcare compliance policies
• Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence in diverse healthcare settings
