Pharmacy Assistant

• ·Assist HOD in Keeping track of expiry medicines and returning the items to the vendors
• Ensures delivery of quality pharmacy services for residents, clients and employees.
• Ensuring the dispensing of medications with clear instructions and correct labeling to patients.
• Ensure the pharmacy department provides clear, understandable instructions to discharge patients in a language known to the patient with information leaflets if possible.
• Acts as a liaison with nursing and medical staff concerning prescriptions orders, drugs and pharmaceutical details, resident reactions, errors and complaints.
• Ensures secure storage of narcotics and other controlled substances on a regular basis.
• Checks that drugs ordered correspond with conditions of patients, overdoses do not occur, allergies and drug interactions have been excluded.
• Supply and labeling of all drugs issued to nursing units
• Pack drugs for the prompt distribution and dispensing.
• Stock processing-receiving, checking, unpacking, putting away, displaying.
• Provides clear, understandable instructions to patients/bystanders
• Dispatches drugs to nursing units with proper care and security during transit.
• Records requisitions accurately.
• Performs quality control monitoring in pharmacy and nursing units on schedule as assigned.
• Compiles with standard operating procedures for storage, recording and requisitions of drugs.
• Maintains general cleanliness of department: dispensing counter, measuring glassware, computer hardware and electronic balance.
