The ideal candidate will be:

  • Highly organised, with excellent time-management skills.
  • Able to multitask and prioritise effectively in a busy, fast-paced pharmacy.

  • Flexible with their working hours when required.

We particularly value individuals who demonstrate initiative, accountability, leadership qualities and a strong work ethic.

Working Hours & Holiday Cover

The contracted position is for 24 hours per week.

However, flexibility is an important requirement of the role. The successful candidate must be willing and able to increase their hours, including working full-time hours when required, to provide cover during colleagues' annual leave and other planned staff absences.

Additional hours will be arranged in advance wherever possible.

The role will include:

  • Receiving and processing prescription requests from patients.
  • Accurately dispensing NHS and private prescriptions.
  • Preparing weekly monitored dosage systems (dosette boxes).
  • Maintaining accurate patient medication records.
  • Communicating with patients, GP practices and other healthcare professionals.
  • Answering telephone and face-to-face enquiries.
  • Supporting the pharmacist and wider pharmacy team with the day-to-day running of the dispensary.
  • Helping to manage workload and ensuring prescriptions are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and well-organised dispensary and working environment.
  • Following pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), confidentiality requirements and relevant GPhC standards.
  • Providing consistently high standards of customer service and patient care.
  • Carrying out other appropriate pharmacy duties as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a busy dispensary environment.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours, including full-time hours, when required for staff holiday cover.

A recognised pharmacy dispensing qualification is highly desirable.

  • Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.
  • A friendly and supportive working environment.
