What they need

Pharmacist Manager – The Mound Pharmacy
Join a small, friendly pharmacy group where your ideas and contribution matter.

Location: 2 The Mound, Mottingham, London, SE9 3AZ
Salary: £55,000–£65,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Work location: In person
Start date: As soon as possible

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring Pharmacist Manager to join our team at The Mound Pharmacy, part of our small group of four community pharmacies.

If you enjoy getting to know your patients, supporting your colleagues and making a difference in your local community, we would love to hear from you. This is an opportunity to make the pharmacy your own, introduce ideas and help grow the business, with practical support from our management team along the way.

You will have the independence to lead the day-to-day running of the pharmacy, alongside full support from our middle management team and Superintendent Pharmacist. Whether you need help with staffing, service development, operational challenges or training, you will have people to turn to.

A varied and rewarding role

Alongside providing safe dispensing and the everyday advice our patients rely on, you will help develop the pharmacy into a welcoming destination for NHS and private healthcare services.

We are particularly keen to grow our private PGD services, travel clinic and vaccination offering, including travel vaccinations and seasonal COVID-19 and flu clinics. Previous experience of running COVID-19 and flu clinics would be a real advantage, but full training and support will be provided to help you develop the skills needed for the role.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Looking after our patients: Providing safe and efficient dispensing, clinical checks, medicines advice and a friendly, personal service.
  • Delivering NHS services: Supporting and developing services such as Pharmacy First, blood pressure checks and other services offered by the pharmacy.
  • Developing private services: Delivering appropriate treatments under private PGDs, within your training and authorisation, and helping patients understand the care available.
  • Running a travel clinic: Providing travel health consultations and travel vaccinations following the relevant training and authorisation.
  • Leading vaccination clinics: Organising and delivering COVID-19 and flu clinics, with support for planning, training and day-to-day delivery.
  • Growing the business: Working with the management team to increase awareness of our services, strengthen relationships with local healthcare professionals and encourage patients to choose us for their pharmacy needs.
  • Supporting your team: Coaching colleagues, recognising their strengths and creating a positive environment where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and contributing ideas.
  • Keeping the pharmacy running smoothly: Overseeing staffing, stock, purchasing, service claims and daily workflows.
  • Maintaining high standards: Following SOPs, maintaining appropriate records and supporting a culture of patient safety, learning and continuous improvement.

Who we are looking for

You will be a GPhC-registered pharmacist who enjoys working with people and takes pride in providing excellent care.

You may already be an experienced Pharmacy Manager, or you may be a pharmacist with strong leadership skills who is ready for the next step. What matters to us is your enthusiasm, willingness to take responsibility and interest in helping both the team and the pharmacy develop.

We would particularly welcome someone who:

  • Has a warm, approachable manner and communicates clearly with patients and colleagues.
  • Enjoys delivering clinical services and is keen to develop NHS and private services.
  • Ideally has experience of organising and delivering COVID-19 and flu vaccination clinics.
  • Has an interest in travel health, travel vaccinations and private PGD services.
  • Understands the importance of growing a successful pharmacy while keeping patient care at the centre of decisions.
  • Is organised, proactive and comfortable bringing forward ideas.
  • Leads by example and helps colleagues feel supported and valued.

What you can expect from us

  • £55,000–£65,000 per annum, depending on your experience.
  • A Monday-to-Friday working pattern, totalling 45 hours per week.
  • A welcoming place in a small pharmacy group, where you can build relationships with colleagues across our four sites.
  • Full training and support to develop and deliver the services required for your role.
  • Ongoing access to our middle management team and Superintendent Pharmacist for practical guidance and support.
  • The freedom to contribute ideas and make meaningful improvements to the pharmacy.
  • Opportunities to develop professionally as the pharmacy and its services grow.

We want you to feel confident, supported and proud of the pharmacy you lead. You will bring the enthusiasm and commitment to help it grow, and we will work alongside you to help make that happen.

We would love to meet you

Please send your CV and a brief covering statement telling us about yourself, your pharmacy experience and why you would like to join The Mound Pharmacy. Please also mention any experience in vaccination clinics, travel health or private services.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received.

  • Join our friendly team and help us build a pharmacy that our community is proud to have on its doorstep.

Pay: £55,000.00-£65,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Free parking
  • On-site parking

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • London Borough of Greenwich SE9 3AZ: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

  • Bachelor's (required)

Experience:

  • Retail Pharmacy: 3 years (required)
