Pharmacy Technician

About the role

Langford Pharmacy Whangamata Limited is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our team on a part-time basis. Based in Whangamata, Waikato, this role is essential to the smooth operation of our pharmacy and directly contributes to delivering quality healthcare services to our community. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work alongside our pharmacist and support staff to ensure medications are dispensed accurately, efficiently, and safely. This position offers the flexibility of part-time work whilst maintaining a meaningful impact on patient care and pharmacy operations.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately dispensing medications under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, ensuring all prescriptions are filled correctly and safely
• Managing pharmacy inventory, including receiving stock, organising shelves, and conducting regular stock checks to maintain appropriate medication levels
• Processing and verifying prescription details, including patient information, dosage requirements, and potential interactions
• Labelling and packaging medications
• Assisting customers with queries about medication usage, side effects, and general health advice, while escalating complex questions to the pharmacist
• Maintaining accurate pharmacy records and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and professional standards
• Supporting the pharmacist in clinical services, such as vaccinations or health screening programmes, as required
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and professional pharmacy environment
• Contributing to a positive customer experience through friendly and professional communication

What we're looking for

• A recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification level 4 or 5

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling medications and processing prescriptions

• Excellent organisational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks in a busy pharmacy environment

• Clear communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers, healthcare professionals, and colleagues

• Knowledge of pharmacy systems

• A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to health and safety regulations

• Previous experience desirable

• Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the changing needs of the pharmacy and community
