Pharmacy Technician, Certified – RWJBarnabas Health At RWJBarnabas Health, the Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in patient care and operational excellence. Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will participate in the medication reconciliation process.

A Typical Day For a Pharmacy Technician May Include

• Collecting and processing medication orders prior to distribution.
• Drug distribution: refilling unit-dose medication bins and delivering contents to nursing units.
• Maintenance of all automatic dispensing machines
• Removing expired medication from stock
• Restocking code carts
• Preparing and labeling outpatient prescriptions
• Preparing and labeling extemporaneously compounded non-sterile pharmaceuticals
• Sterile and non-sterile product preparation
• Performing required calculations for all medication dispensing and compounding
• Using aseptic techniques
• Maintains the integrity of laminar air flow hoods by cleaning and following procedures
• Monitoring IV schedules and unused IV solutions on select nursing units to increase efficiency and avoiding waste

To Be Considered For This Pharmacy Technician Opportunity

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
• PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification required within six months of hire date.

Preferred, Not Required

• Prior experience as a pharmacy technician
• PTCB certification upon hire
