Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you’ll support pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications while helping patients receive accurate, timely service. You may work in a hospital, community, long-term care (LTC), or acute care setting, depending on the role. Your impact: Accurate medication preparation and clear intake support help pharmacists focus on patient care and help patients receive the medications they need.

Duties

• Process medication orders and patient intake; enter information accurately into pharmacy software and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Assist with compounding medications, including sterile intravenous (IV) admixtures, using aseptic technique and established procedures.
• Support medication administration workflows and IV infusion services as directed by a pharmacist.
• Provide patient service and customer service by answering routine questions, sharing information with pharmacists, and helping resolve order issues.
• Follow pharmaceutical regulatory compliance requirements, drug regulations, state healthcare regulations, and state and federal pharmacy laws.

Skills

• Pharmacy technician experience and knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, medical terminology, and pharmacological medical terminology.
• Patient care skills, attention to detail, data entry ability, and familiarity with pharmacy software.
• Experience in hospital pharmacy, hospital, community pharmacy, LTC pharmacy, clinical pharmacy, critical care, or acute care settings is relevant; requirements vary by role.
• Knowledge of IV compounding, sterile IV admixture procedures, and aseptic technique; basic life support (BLS) may be required for some settings.
• Ability to follow pharmacist direction and established procedures; medication administration experience is useful where applicable.

Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
