Phlebotomist

Phlebotomist – Part-time.

Are you an experienced Phlebotomist looking for a new challenge?

We are inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates who wish to join our friendly, high achieving, 6 Partner Training GP Practice in the centre of Emsworth.

You would be working alongside our existing nursing team, running independent clinics. Working circa 16 hours a week on a Tuesday and Thursday with occasional cover for holidays and sickness. Ideally you would have experience in General Practice, but this is not essential.

Main duties include:

· Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

· Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures.

· Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers.

· Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity.

· Checking patient ID against GP/nurse request.

· Recording collection of blood sample in patient record.

· Ensuring that samples are dispatched in a timely fashion.

· Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff.

· Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues.

Criteria.

Essential.

• Experience of working alongside nursing teams and providing a phlebotomy service (one year minimum).
• Dealing with patients in a sympathetic and supportive way.
• Excellent communication skills.

Desirable.

• Experience of working in primary care.
