About the role

MJK MEDICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC CLINIC is seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our occupational health and medical services team. This is a full-time position based in Ermita, Manila City, Metro Manila. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in our healthcare operations by collecting blood samples from employees and patients with precision, care, and professionalism. This position is essential to ensuring accurate diagnostic testing and maintaining the highest standards of occupational health services across our maritime and shipping operations.

Key responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients and employees using various venipuncture techniques, including arm draws, finger sticks, and heel sticks
• Ensure proper identification and labelling of blood samples to maintain accuracy and traceability throughout the testing process
• Prepare patients for blood collection by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and positioning them safely and comfortably
• Maintain sterile and safe working conditions by following standard precautions and infection control protocols
• Operate and maintain phlebotomy equipment, including centrifuges and automated sample processing systems
• Document all blood collections accurately and ensure proper sample storage and transportation to the laboratory
• Respond compassionately to patients experiencing anxiety or adverse reactions during blood collection
• Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, occupational health standards, and company policies
• Maintain comprehensive records of all procedures and patient interactions
• Support the overall occupational health programme by assisting with employee wellness initiatives and health screening programmes

What w're looking for

• Recognised phlebotomy certification or qualification in clinical laboratory science with phlebotomy specialisation
• Proven experience as a phlebotomist in a clinical, hospital, or occupational health setting
• Excellent knowledge of venipuncture techniques and blood collection procedures
• Strong understanding of infection control, biosafety protocols, and occupational health and safety regulations
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare professionals
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in sample collection and documentation
• Physical capability to perform repetitive motions and stand for extended periods
• Professional demeanour and ability to work calmly under pressure
• Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory practices
• Valid healthcare certifications and immunisations as required by local regulations
• Preferred: Experience in occupational health or maritime-related healthcare settings
