The Engineering Division conducts research and provides engineering services to the whole of DSO in the areas of digital and mixed- signal electronics/microelectronics, radio frequency (RF), electromagnetic interference (EMI)/electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), antennas, as well as mechanical and thermal engineering.

Photonics Engineer

In this role, you will:

1. Design and Development:

• Develop and design photonic devices, packaging and systems, e.g. including lasers, modulators, amplifiers, harmonic generators, splitters, couplers and detectors.
• Utilize software tools for simulating, modelling and designing layout for photonic devices, circuits and packaging.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate photonic components into larger systems.

2. Prototyping and Testing:

• Build, assemble and test prototypes to ensure functionality and performance specifications are met.
• Conduct experiments to validate assembly parameters and improve device performance.
• Analyze test results and troubleshoot issues.

3. Research and Innovation:

• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in photonics technology.
• Conduct research to develop new photonic technologies and applications.
• Propose new project ideas and present them to the stake holders.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

• Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design approach, tasks, specifications, test reports, and future tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of all development and testing activities.
• Report progress and project status to management and stakeholders.

5. Maintenance and Support:

• Provide technical support and expertise on photonics related enquiry from other departments.
• Assist in the maintenance and calibration of photonic equipment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering &Computer Science/Electronic & Electrical Engineering/Electronic Engineering/Materials Science/Materials Science & Engineering/Photonics/Photonics System Development/Semiconductors Technology
• Proficiency in using CAE tools for design
• Proficiency in using common laboratory equipment for characterization
• Have basic understanding in the theory and application of photonics technology
• Willing to learn and apply the knowledge in product development
