What they need

Physical Therapist (PT)

BEYOND Quality of Life PLLC

About the Position

BEYOND Quality of Life PLLC is looking for a Physical Therapist to join our mobile therapy team in Smyth County and surrounding areas of Southwest Virginia.

We provide outpatient therapy under Medicare Part B, but instead of asking patients to come to a clinic, we go to them. Our PTs work with patients in their homes and help them improve their strength, balance, mobility, safety, and ability to continue doing the things they need and want to do.

This is mobile outpatient therapy, not home health. Patients do not have to be homebound, and our therapists aren't working within the traditional home health model. Visits are based on the patient's therapy needs and plan of care.

For a PT who likes working independently and having time to get to know their patients, it's a very different way to practice.

What You'll Do

As the evaluating PT, you'll have a lot of independence in determining what your patients need and how therapy can best help them.

Your work may include:

  • Completing PT evaluations and developing plans of care
  • Therapeutic exercise and strengthening
  • Balance and fall prevention
  • Gait and mobility training
  • Transfer training
  • Neuromuscular re-education
  • Endurance and activity tolerance
  • Pain management
  • Manual therapy when appropriate
  • Home safety and accessibility recommendations
  • Developing home exercise programs that patients can realistically follow
  • Teaching patients and caregivers safer ways to manage mobility and daily routines
  • Supervising and communicating with PTAs
  • Communicating with physicians and other members of the therapy team when needed
  • Completing documentation that meets Medicare Part B requirements

Because treatment happens in the patient's home, you'll also be able to see problems that aren't always obvious in a clinic. A patient may need to get stronger, but they may also need to figure out how to safely get down their front steps, get in and out of their favorite chair, walk to the mailbox, or move around their home without falling.

That's the kind of problem-solving we want our therapists to be able to do.

What You'll Need

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program
  • Current Virginia PT license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel within your assigned service area
  • Ability to work independently and manage your schedule and caseload
  • Good communication and documentation skills

Experience with older adults, neurological or orthopedic conditions, home-based therapy, or Medicare Part B is helpful, but it's not the only thing we're looking at.

Who Tends to Do Well Here

Our practice is a good fit for a PT who likes having some independence.

We don't want to micromanage experienced clinicians. We want our therapists to use their clinical judgment, communicate with the team, and make decisions based on what is happening with the person in front of them.

You should also be comfortable working one-on-one with older adults and families. Some patients will be working toward major functional gains. Others may be trying to maintain what they have, reduce their fall risk, manage a chronic condition, or stay in their own home longer.

All of those goals matter.

Scheduling and Work Options

We know flexibility is important, especially for therapists balancing work, family, or another position.

Depending on availability and caseload needs, we offer:

  • Full-time, part-time, and PRN opportunities
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Competitive compensation
  • Continuing education support
  • Training and support as you get started
  • Opportunities to grow with the practice

About BEYOND Quality of Life

BEYOND Quality of Life PLLC is a locally owned therapy practice based in Glade Spring, Virginia. We provide mobile occupational, physical, and speech therapy services throughout Southwest Virginia.

We started BEYOND because we believe there is a need for therapy that falls somewhere between a traditional outpatient clinic and home health.

Many older adults can benefit from skilled therapy but getting to a clinic is difficult, exhausting, or simply impractical. At the same time, they may not qualify for—or need—traditional home health services.

We bring outpatient therapy to them.

Our goal is to help our patients stay as safe, active, and independent as possible in the place most of them want to be: their own home.

If this sounds like the way you'd like to practice physical therapy, we'd like to talk with you.

Pay: $46.00 - $50.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Continuing education credits
  • Flexible schedule

Education:

  • Master's (Required)

Experience:

  • Geriatric or Outpatient: 1 year (Preferred)
