What they need
Methodist Retirement Communities (MRC), with a mission to honor and serve older adults as an expression of Christ’s love, does so with eight senior living communities in Texas. When you join the MRC team, you get far more than a job, you get purpose, because here work means more.
MRC is seeking a compassionate Physical Therapist to help older adults restore function, manage pain, improve mobility, and remain engaged in the daily moments that matter most. You will develop individualized therapy plans that support each resident’s goals, safety, and independence.
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate residents’ mobility, strength, balance, motor function, sensory perception, functional capacity, and overall therapy needs.
- Develop individualized plans of care with meaningful, measurable short- and long-term goals.
- Provide evidence-based treatment using therapeutic exercise, manual techniques, functional activities, and appropriate equipment.
- Monitor each resident’s response to treatment and adjust interventions to achieve the greatest possible benefit.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing, rehabilitation team members, residents, families, and caregivers to coordinate care.
- Recommend supportive, orthotic, or prosthetic devices and provide education on safe use when appropriate.
- Document evaluations, treatment, progress, and discharge recommendations accurately and on time.
- Create a thoughtful transition plan that supports continued success after therapy services end.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program.
- Current, unrestricted Physical Therapist license in the state of Texas.
- Two to three years of experience in skilled nursing, senior living, or a related setting preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience with specialized programs such as orthopedic rehabilitation, wound care, pain management, urinary incontinence, or contracture management is a plus.
- A genuine love for serving older adults and honoring each resident’s goals, dignity, and choices.
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and time-management skills.
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary partners.
- An encouraging teaching style that helps residents participate actively in their progress.
- A service-minded teammate who demonstrates Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
Why MRC?
MRC is a nonprofit, faith-based organization that has served Texas seniors since 1962. Here, success is measured in moments that matter: a resident regaining a skill, a family feeling supported, or a teammate knowing their work made a real difference. We are guided by our ICARE values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. If you want to bring your clinical expertise to work with purpose, connection, and heart, we would love to meet you.
