Duties

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and patient assessments, including vital signs and intake evaluations.
• Prescribe medications and administer injections in accordance with HIPAA regulations and collaborative practice agreements.
• Perform diagnostic evaluations, interpret test results such as radiology imaging, laboratory data, and diagnostic tests like ECGs and pulmonary function tests.
• Manage acute pain, critical care situations, ventilator support, and airway management for patients in emergency or intensive care settings.
• Assist with procedures including suturing, catheterization, thoracentesis, spinal taps, and other clinical interventions.
• Document patient encounters accurately using electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner), ensuring compliance with medical coding standards such as CPT, ICD-10, and ICD-9.
• Collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams across hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, neonatal units, pediatrics, geriatrics, and specialty areas like infectious disease care or hospice & palliative medicine.
• Participate in clinical research trials and data collection initiatives to advance evidence-based practices.
• Support triage processes in urgent care or outpatient clinics to prioritize patient needs efficiently.
• Engage in discharge planning, health coaching, patient education on medication administration and lifestyle modifications.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks for managing medical records and documentation.
• Strong clinical research background with experience in clinical trials and data management.
• Skilled in performing procedures including suturing, phlebotomy, DME management (durable medical equipment), and basic life support (BLS).
• Experience with advanced practice provider roles within collaborative practice agreements; ability to prescribe medications under DEA regulations.
• Critical care experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers; familiarity with ventilator management and airway techniques.
• Competence in handling complex cases involving infectious diseases, acute care scenarios, or post-operative recovery.
• Ability to interpret diagnostic tests such as radiology imaging (X-ray, MRI), cardiac catheterization data, and lab results including ICD coding for accurate documentation.
• Excellent client communication skills; adept at patient assessment and delivering compassionate care tailored to diverse populations including neonatal ventilator management or senior care.
• Knowledge of healthcare diagnosis procedures across multiple specialties; capable of supporting telehealth consultations or outpatient clinic visits effectively.
