What they need
Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center (OSC) is looking for a motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our team and work closely with one of our orthopedic surgeons. This is an opportunity for a PA who enjoys building relationships with patients, using their clinical skills and judgment, and being an integral part of a collaborative orthopedic team.
You will have meaningful involvement in patient care throughout the treatment journey, from initial evaluation through recovery, while working closely with the surgeon and clinical team. Orthopedic experience is preferred, but we are also excited to hear from new graduates with a strong interest in orthopedics who are eager to learn and grow. If you're looking for an opportunity to develop your skills, build strong patient relationships and be part of a team that values your contribution, we'd love to meet you.
The position is primarily clinic-based, with some hospital rounding and call responsibilities. Our ideal schedule is approximately four days per week, Monday through Thursday, but we are open to discussing the right schedule for the right PA.
What You'll Do
You will work directly alongside an orthopedic surgeon caring for patients throughout their treatment journey. Responsibilities will primarily include:
- Evaluate new and established orthopedic patients
- Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations
- Develop and manage patient treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including X-rays, MRI, CT, ultrasound, EMG and laboratory testing
- Perform procedures such as injections, suturing and wound care
- Prescribe medications within the scope of Oklahoma law and practice guidelines
- Educate patients about their diagnosis, treatment options and ongoing care
- Manage post-operative patients and coordinate follow-up care
- Communicate with patients regarding test results, treatment plans and follow-up care
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EMR
- Round on hospitalized patients as needed
- Assist with surgical procedures and other complex orthopedic care as needed
- Participate in call responsibilities as applicable
- Collaborate with the surgeon and clinical team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care
Why Join OSC?
OSC is a physician-led orthopedic and podiatric practice committed to excellent patient care and a supportive, team-oriented work environment. We value clinical judgment, communication, teamwork and the relationships we build with our patients.
This isn't a role where you'll simply be another provider in a large system. The right PA will become an important part of the surgeon's practice, working closely with the physician, clinical staff, patients and referring providers while having meaningful involvement in patient care.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Confident in their clinical skills or eager to develop them
- Compassionate and approachable with patients
- A strong communicator and team player
- Organized, dependable and able to manage time effectively
- Comfortable working independently while knowing when to collaborate
- Committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
- Interested in becoming a valued, long-term member of our team
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program, or a current PA student with an anticipated graduation date
- Current Oklahoma PA license in good standing, or eligible for Oklahoma PA licensure upon successful completion of the PANCE
- NCCPA certification preferred/required as applicable
- Current BLS certification
- Current NPI
- Orthopedic experience preferred, but not required
- Strong clinical assessment, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and staff
- Commitment to maintaining professional standards, patient confidentiality and regulatory compliance
Work Environment
This position is primarily based in our outpatient orthopedic clinic, with occasional work in hospital and surgical facility settings. The position may involve hospital rounding, surgical assistance and evening or weekend call responsibilities.
The role requires periods of standing, walking and moving throughout the day and may involve assisting with patient transfers or other physical activities associated with patient care.
