What they need
Delighting the Customer and Delivering a First Class Product and Service
This is a 12 month fixed term employment opportunity (maternity leave cover).
We are looking for people that can deliver a great service to our customers. A service that involves the customer and helps them see framing solutions that complements their artworks and memorabilia. The role involves critical thinking within Fine Art Trade Guild picture framing best practices. It requires basic but reliable practical maths and arithmetic (using a calculator as needed). This is a role well suited to people with a flair for layout design with good logical problem solving. Full training will be given. We work as a team to deliver our customers bespoke framing designs from beginning to end.
As a well established business on the high street, we rely on people that enjoy learning new skills, love interacting with customers to deliver a superb experience and appreciate the power of working together as a team. You’ll meet great people, learn new things and be part of a specialist team where everyone is welcome.
We have been providing a professional framing service for many years and help our customers present their artwork, pictures, canvas, prints, photos, medals, textiles and memorabilia. We have gained a reputation for framing a wide range of unusual and different sized items. Sports shirts, single or double sided, gem art, cross stitches and tapestries, parchments and papyrus are all framed using the correct conservation methods (we are a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild). We regularly frame certificates, medals, banners and jigsaws taking the utmost care of our customers' precious, valuable and sentimental pieces.
This role requires a good understanding of what is needed for great one to one customer service in a retail sales environment. Our business relies on discretionary spend from our customers so first impressions and a polite attentive attitude and behaviour are essential to this job. Your application for this role will be enhanced if you have previous experience in this regard.
Whilst potentially advantageous, previous picture framing and finishing experience is not essential as full “on the job” training and mentoring will be given to the successful candidate. Based on prevailing business and personnel outcomes, a successful tenure and a genuine desire and love to continue within the picture framing industry, a permanent role may be offered to the successful candidate.
You will be primarily responsible for:
- Serving customers ensuring they receive an easy, seamless and personalised experience.
- Being knowledgeable about the products and services we offer and helping customers by giving great natural service
- Using our computerised order management systems to maintain framing orders.
- Handling money, smart and payment card transactions in a safe and secure manner.
- Handling artworks with an eye for detail, conservation and absolute care.
- Assisting in stock management activities.
- Following company policies and adhering to health and safety guidelines
- At times, you may be required to accept deliveries into the shop
- Any other appropriate shop related activities and duties if called upon from time to time.
As such, you also have the opportunity to be involved in:
- Picture framing layout and design including the use of our computerised mount cutter software and mount cutting machine.
- Picture glass and board cutting (using our cutting tools and machines)
- Picture (artworks) mounting and frame finishing (including the use of compressed air powered finishing tools).
- Shop product development from ideation to design and delivery.
You will need
- A passion for delivering great service, greeting customers with a smile and serving them with respectful confidence and pride.
- The ability to build rapport with customers - We want our customers to leave our shop having experienced great service.
- When appropriate, to take the initiative and help make decisions that are right for our customers
- Work well within a team and communicate effectively and openly with others
- Build relationships with colleagues to create a team spirit, having fun and celebrating success
- A practiced grounding in math's using the metric measurement system to complete designs.
- Able bodied mobility with reasonable fitness - We operate in a small listed high street building across multiple step accessible floors. You will be on you feet for a considerable time during the day with a need to move and carry things confidently in relatively tight spaces, up and down steps and staircases).
- Be at work on time, well presented and ready to be a great shop ambassador
- A willingness to help out in our other shops should the need arise.
